On your way to the airport be sure to look up and see the new location for the billboard featuring my Desert Mountain painting. Exit off of 85 onto Billy Graham Parkway and look up on the right. Or just glance out of the plane on your way back into town!

Exciting News for 2014!

Leigh B. Williams’ Artwork Accents Charlotte’s Skyline

Selected in a juried competition sponsored by the Charlotte Arts and Science Council in partnership with Adams Outdoor Advertising, Leigh B. Williams’ painting, Desert Mountains, was on display in uptown Charlotte from January 1st - March 31st. Stay tuned for future updates and new locations.

One of 15 Artists chosen by the jurors for the inaugural Charlotte “ArtPop” program, Leigh’s painting was prominently displayed on a billboard just off I-77 with the Panther’s Bank of America stadium and the new modernistic Duke Energy tower serving as a backdrop (initial location 822 W. Morehead Street at Cedar Street – see website link below for updated locations).   ArtPop is a growing national program that allows local artists to display their artwork and the public to connect with it as Public Outdoor Art.  Charlotte is the 8^th city to embrace this growing movement started by Wendy Hickey, a national sales representative for Adams. Visual Journaling Workshop at Stonebridge

Mini Visual Journaling Workshop

I had a wonderful time teaching a Mini Visual Journaling Workshop at the Stonebridge Woman's Retreat held at the Ridgecrest Conference Center on March 16th. The women did an awesome job and we all had a lot of fun. Here are a few photos of the day.

Journaling Workshop - Entry 3

The workshop was such a fun day with exciting interactions,

 both among artists with each other and with their art supplies!

are great examples of creativity at work.

Above is a colorful page created with acrylic paint and
heavy brush strokes.

When watercolor is added to bubble wrap and then printed,
it adds a very interesting background texture.
The addition of pretty postage stamps and painted
boarders creates more interest.

The page above is a great example of two different
transfer techniques - Photo transfer & Tape transfer.
It is dramatic left black and white, but would also
accept colors quite nicely.

A light watercolor wash was put down as an inviting
background and then layer with both collage,
transfer techniques and text.

These two pages show how watercolor can be used to create
a dynamic background for additional layering techniques.

The left page features a Tape Transfer on a graphite background.
The right page features paint and collage techniques.

This page shows how a watercolor background
can tie in related collage images and how a play
on words can add humor!

After creating graphic swirls as a resist under a painted
background, feathers were used to print a dramatic
design that captures interest and movement.
